Earth's Prayer
{to the intonations of The Lord's Prayer}
Our Gaia, whose art is nature -
abode of our life,
Your time has come,
your battle won
for people's planet-consciousness.
Teach us each day, how to be and live
through observing nature's models.
Those models that bring us into harmony
and not into conflict with life's source.
Home to humanity,
in sacred diversity.
Deities in unity,
our dream.
Our Gaia, whose heart feeds all creatures
alive on this Earth.
Attuned to that flow, our knowledge grows
of how interdependent we are.
Give us this day a new way to be -
Born guardians of all life forms
In a heart-based nature - nature at its heart.
Our new role in life to honour them
Respect and protect, share in the caring
to sustain the future
Their destiny our own,
at-one.
Our Gaia, as a part of you
We are your nature
Your kingdom of life, your will survives.
Give us, this day, new eyes to see
Eyes that embrace the whole world and not just me.
A metamorphosis.
The land, like our bodies,
The sun our inner fire,
Rivers, life-blood of earth.
Parallel universe,
wholistic perspective,
oneness.

Yogic Prayer to the Earth
I breathe in energy of life
I breathe out love of the Earth
I breathe in inspiration
I breathe out love of Earth's creatures
I breathe in the winds of change
I breathe out love of Earth's forms
I breathe in the richness of biodiversity
I breathe out respect for all life
I breathe in nature's beauty
I breathe out Earth's sanctity
I breathe in cosmic energies
I breathe out universal love
I breathe in the wholeness
I breathe out wholeness
I breathe in dynamism
I breathe out energy
to begin the spiral
of never-ending reciprocation
between Self and Life
in the great energy-exchange
of Being... in love with the Earth.
I breathe in hope
I breathe out trust
I breathe in Earth's strength
I breathe out her power
I breathe in the essence of Earth
Fragrances to calm and centre the senses.
I breathe out the stillness
of the perfect moment of awareness.
I breathe in Earth's knowledge
I breathe out Earth's knowledge
in symbiosis.
I breathe in movement
I breathe out expressiveness
I breathe in asanas
I breathe out in asanas
I breathe in interconnection
I breathe out in interdependence
I breathe in the gifts of life
I breathe out gratitude
I breathe in the miracle of life
I breathe out consciousness of the miracle
I breathe in wonder
I breathe out awe
I breathe the first breath again
I breathe the last in its joy
I breathe in the magnificence of mountains
I breathe out generosity of vision
I breathe in the twin energy-spirits of love
we call courage and compassion
I breathe out their dance into the future.
And this is Oneness.

Earth Creed
I believe in Earth the Healer. Maker and giver of trillions of life-forms from a multi-expressive energy deeply reflected in our human, diverse, creative endeavours.
I believe in championing the planet much as you would a lover who fulfils your every need, dream and passion because the Earth does this, and more, for us all. Earth as healer is a future identity we humans are destined to come to love, now we have pushed and tested our planet's ability to grow beyond her natural limitations. Earth as healer is a role she is willing and waiting to take up, so generous, celebratory and all-encompassing is her spirit of life.
We join. Co-healers as well as co-creators.
In compassion for all life-forms,
In humility of spirit,
In love for the earth,
Our women and a-men.
I believe in the courage shown by all living creatures, models of how to be in our own essence when faced with impossible odds against survival.
I believe in the massive capability of co-operative human endeavour, will-power, love, endurance.
That these qualities themselves grow a life-giving spirit, long dormant, now nascent, emergent, in our species.
I believe in change: of consciousness, ways of seeing and being, a faith sourced in compassion for all life.
And in oneness as the guiding principle of human awareness, the reality of sharing a finite planet.
I look for signs of all these things.
I confess my allegiance to Earth's well-being, for the sake of all.
Blessed by sun and rain,
And the trinity of miracles of growth – photosynthesis, transformations, metamorphoses -
Patterns of nature re-patterning our lives.
I believe our human natures to be reflections of the planet's nature. As beautiful as flowers; stormy as seas; destructive as volcanoes; tranquil, meditative and still as a lake's reflected surface. Imbued and permeated by this knowledge it is easy to accept our diversity in oneness; our oneness in diversity.
Within us lives a seed, a resonance, an echo, of all manifestations of nature. Once nurtured, this seed heals and grows our life-spirit.
As creators of life sustainable, in biodiversity, for all sentient beings.
Aspirational as mountains, flowing, intermingling and co-operative as water, rock-solid in a core commitment to care for our shared home.
Breathing the great inter-connector, the air, nanosecond by nanosecond, Healing the Earth as we heal it, a person-planet symbiosis, Seeding a vision of future possible. For our women and a-men.

Easter Eco-Prayer (to the rhythms of the Lords Prayer)
Our Gaia, Spring's Easter spirit
fills our hearts and minds.
Life is renewed for all to feel
on Earth, we are touched by heaven.
To seed and grow and bring to bloom
this miracle of existence.
In resurrecting our reverence for Earth
turn away from any sacrifice
through our goals of misplaced human gain.
Instead, see Earth as whole.
Celebrate every wonder
as part of our
nature.

Christmas Eco Prayer
(to the rhythms of the Lord's Prayer)
Our Gaia, your Winter Solstice
heralds Christmas time.
Stars in our eyes, fire in our hearts,
on earth, as it is in visions.
Grant us the Great Christmas Blessing -
birthing joy, love, peace and oneness.
An everlasting carol sung each New Year
to unite culture and creation
in a Christmas spirit passion.
For ours is the power
to create such a future.
Real reverence
for Earth.

In the interests of 'breaking down barriers', I've put these Prayers to the Earth on-line.
Please feel free to use them, as appropriate. And please don't hesitate to share, to whoever you feel will gain something from them.
Belief leads to feelings, on which we act. The beliefs are different. The actions to which those beliefs lead, are even more diverse. But the feelings – of reverence, awe, wonder, love, humility, and of the absolute rightness of 'our' particular form of spiritual expression – are, at the root, the same. This is the place of connection for all.
Earth's Prayer stands on the cusp of what I was taught as a child and what I came to believe. It retains the 'sound-alike' rhythms grooved into my brain in childhood. It moves into a personal evolved belief system which, naturally, I feel is absolutely right.
Earth's Prayer is an overview that works on many levels.
1. It honours the tradition of all belief systems – prayer.
2. It honours the specific religious tradition of Christianity.
3 It offers a practical down-to-earth sense of oneness.
4 It does not promote elitism of religious belief; rather a sense of a shared
spirituality.
5 It is a true reflection of the sharing of our physical life on Earth.
6 It encourages us to take responsibility for the miracle of life on Planet Earth here in the goldilocks zone.
7 Irrespective of culture, creed or childhood conditioning, it restores sacredness to the Earth on which we all depend.
Any one religion restricts, channels, forms, tweaks our human way of seeing and allows anomalies, discordances, mismatches, to persist, live on. (Which promote, albeit unconsciously, fragmented or compartmentalised thinking.) Oneness has to be the start-point because that is the reality. To re-create a coherent vibrational field, a sense of oneness, to heal ourselves and the Earth is surely an upcoming agenda?
I never 'lost my faith' in the miracle of all existence. I simply re-positioned Christianity as one form of spiritual expression and found it fitted better into an overall overview of multi-religions. What else can promote wholeness? Peace? Harmony?
For the future of our species, homo sapiens, nothing is more important than the ecosystem.
If you are in a position to use Earth's Prayer, or other prayers on this page, to advantage, please do so.
And many thanks to those who have already used it, and to those who choose the Yogic Prayer to the Earth, and Earth Creed.
